funny/ Kit Cope/ Daniel Tosh

June 14 Funny: I was watching the drinking and driving video at the driving class. Look who appeared on screen, Jonathan Torrens.

Later:
Me: So it's pretty cool to see Jonathan Torrens.
My sister cracks a smile at that.
Me: I've seen him on Street Cents, and then his own talk show Jonovision. He did make an appearance on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
S: As what? A teacher?
Me: No, he played Caitlyn Ryan's old high school boyfriend.

S: He (Torrens) was never on the old Degrassi.

Walking Tall: Last night I saw the movie Walking Tall. It stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as an ex- military guy who comes back to his small town. He sees his old family and friends like Johnny Knoxville from Jackass. Later he sees that there is corruption in town. Dwayne then goes and meets his old friend played by Neal McDonough (Edie's husband from Desperate Housewives). Neal invites them to go to his new casino.

D goes and gets a lap dance from this stripper there. It's played by Ashley Scott (Asha from Dark Angel, and she was also in Into the Blue.) She will be his love interest. A fight occurs when D sees that the casino was cheating money out of the customers. It was a good fight scene. D does get hurt and lands in the hospital. It takes awhile for him to heal. Later it turns out his nephew took some drugs, and that was from the people at the casino. D goes and kicks some ass by destroying the casino with this big piece of wood. The casino and Neal press charges against D for assault and vandalism.

The court room scene was interesting. D fires his defense lawyer, and D represents himself. Later D then shows the jury and the entire court room his huge scars on his body.

Judge: I'm holding you in contempt. Ignore what you just saw.

I thought that was stupid to tell people to forget what they saw. It reminds me of this time I think way back in 2004. I was watching the show Century City about lawyers in 2030. The lawyer played by the actor who also played Bob Buss from 2gether was on. Lawyer gives all this evidence.

Judge: This evidence is inadmissible.
L: Yeah, whatever. Strike it then.
My sister laughs at it.
Me: What's so funny?
S: Him saying "Strike it" as in striken it from the record. You might as well be saying: "Don't think of a white bear" and then you're thinking of it right now.

That also reminds me of The Listener. The last ep had Toby say: "Don't think of the locker comb." The bad guy then starts thinking it, so then Toby was able to get into the storage locker and save the girl. Now back to the movie. It was a really good action movie and it was fun to watch. I recommend you watch it.

June 15 Kit Cope: Good news everybody. I've been emailing professional MMA fighter Kit Cope on Facebook. He has read my script The Fighter and he says he wants to be in it. I asked if he is willing to come to Edmonton to film it. I also asked how my movie is like those other pit fighting movies he said.

He says: "Obviously I'll go wherever the movie is being filmed. There are a ton of movies that loosely have that format. Lionheart, Never Surrender, Perfect Weapon, Gladiator. Don't get me wrong, it's a format that works. Another thing that I wanted to mention was: don't write in the fight choreography. Let a fight choreographer figure the best way to do that."

I've been pitching this script since Jan. 2008 to present. It's been a year and a half. It's great to finally hear at least one person saying yes to it. I emailed a production company telling them that he's in it.

June 16 Horoscope: Today I read my horoscope in 24. It said this: "A journey is about to conclude. In the final scene, you ride into the sunset with everything you were meant to have." That's nice. It seems to really speak to me to what I've been working with this script.

June 17: Today I got an email from a production company. He said that it was "interesting" that Kit Cope was going to be in it, and that he will read the script this weekend. I sent that script back in June 1. So after 2 and a half weeks, now he's going to read it. Well, better late than never.

June 18 Daniel Tosh: I was watching Tosh.0, and my sister came by and watched the first 7 minutes of it. She didn't like it at all.

D: Do you know how David Carradine really died? He hung himself in a closet in a Bangkok hotel as he was pleasuring himself. That's how my grandpa died. Too soon?
Me: Yeah. DC had his funeral last week.

Cut to an obese man shooting a gun.
D: Put 20 seconds on the clock and I will put up all these captions underneath this video. "You don't see a left handed gun man that often." Ha, I didn't go with a fat joke. "Guns don't kill people, Type 2 diabetes kill people."
I laughed out loud at that one.
D: "A mountain is shooting at us." "Oh no, a bear with a gun."

They showed a clip of this deformed young woman tap dancing with an umbrella.
D: Pull up your sock. You should lose the umbrella if you want to get on Dancing with the Stars.
S: That is low.

S: How long has this show been on?
Me: Since last week. This is the second ep.
S: This is the kind of show that makes people dumber.
Me: Then get out of here. This guy was on Jay Leno before.
S: Doesn't mean that he's on Jay Leno means that he's good.

Then there was a commercial break and S left. Today I told my co-worker Jennifer about it and she told me: "You watch weird shows."

In the ep, D talks to Miss Teen North Carolina. You know the teen who totally messed up her answer to why many students can pin point where the USA is. She was saying stuff like "the Iran", "US Americans." Her second chance on this show was to simply say: "I don't know."

As D was talking with her, they both dressed up in the same blue dress with the North Carolina sash on them. I burst out laughing when D showed up wearing the identical blue dress with her.

The Listener: I saw a new ep of the show today. This time the bad guy is a woman and she actually gets arrested instead of killing herself by accident or on purpose like the first 3 eps. This time, Toby is a suspect because he spent the last night with the girl who died. The boyfriend is a suspect, and so is the girl's boss.

Rant: Here's a mild rant. I go to Shoppers Drug Mart to buy food for the restaurant. The manager gives me money, and I can put it on my Shoppers card to get points and then redeem them to buy stuff. I remember the days when Shoppers had at least $5 worth of points and you can redeem them. This was back in 2007. Now you have to have at least $10 worth of points before you can redeem them. That mildly annoys me. It's not to the point that I'm going to write a angry letter to the store or complain to the manager.

June 19 Writing: I haven't been writing since I hit writer's block. Today I did pitch to production companies. I haven't been pitching because I got 3 people reading it. Now it's down to 2 people reading it. I did get a yes from Kit Cope, so that's why I decided to go pitching again and mention that he's in it.

I was also inspired because Screenwriting Goldmine emailed me another newsletter. I also called Conni Massing with that new script I'm working. She, and like my friend Dan said, that it's similar to the first script. It's both about MMA.

Job search:
Today was my day off so I passed out a resume to Stantec. I also passed one out to the U of A because my co-worker Sylvia told me about how she had a friend who worked there. It's a call centre job where they call people to ask for donations to the U of A. I got to the place and went to one desk, and then directed to another desk. I had to go two floors up. Then I went to one office, directed to another, and then I was lead to the right one. lol.

Drive: I also took a driving lesson today and practiced turning left and right. I also didn't get into an accident, so that's good.
